Note: As of January 1, 2019, the proportion of beverages filled in reusable beverage packaging was surveyed in accordance with Section 31 of the Packaging Act (VerpackG). The term "ecologically beneficial one-way beverage packaging" has not been included in the Packaging Act. For comparison, the figures in accordance with the old Packaging Act are given below:

On 1 January 2003, the compulsory deposit for disposable drinks packaging entered into force, in particular for the following types of drinks:

  • as of 1 January 2003: carbonated soft drinks, mineral water and beer
  • as of 1 May 2006: soft drinks (carbonated and non-carbonated), mineral water, beer and mixed alcoholic drinks

Ecologically advantageous disposable drinks packaging includes:

  • Drinks carton packaging (brick packs, gable-top cartons and cylindric packaging),
  • Drinks packaging in the form of polyethylene bags,
  • Stand-up bags.
