Shortlinks on the website
Ideal for communication
The Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection provides so-called shortlinks for its website, which consist of the main URL www.bmuv.de plus a character and a unique webpage number. Therefore you can either use the long descriptive link as shown in the address bar of your internet browser or the shortlink. You will always find the shortlink at the bottom right of the respective webpage.
While the descriptive links are helpful for search engines and provide a clear overview of the general topic structure, shortlinks facilitate easier communication. They are ideal for referencing, printing out or for passing on to others via social networks or telephone.
Alphanumeric numbering avoids ambiguity
Shortlinks consist of the main URL www.bmu.de plus a character and a number. The character indicates the type of webpage within the system and is not case-sensitive.

The combination of character and number provides the system with all the necessary information to select the correct webpage. Instead of the descriptive link for this webpage www.bmuv.de/en/service/help-and-user-instructions/technical-notes/shortlinks-on-the-bmu-website you can also use the shortlink www.bmuv.de/WS2208-1. Both links will direct you to the same webpage. You will find the shortlink at the right bottom of the screen.
