Funding programme for environmental protection "made in Germany"

Federal Environment Minister Barbara Hendricks wants to promote the export of German green technologies in a lasting way. "The one-year pilot phase of our export initiative for environmental technologies was a great success. As the world's leading exporter in this sector, we would like to continue the progress of environmental protection 'made in Germany' in 2017," said State Secretary Gunther Adler today at the opening of a conference attended by representatives and experts from the environmental technologies sector. "Future-ready environmental technology acts like a lever for sustainable development. It can help improve living conditions around the world," Adler noted. The aim of the conference is to evaluate the export initiative's pilot phase and future priorities.

The export initiative for environmental technologies supports the projects of German businesses and institutions with the goal of disseminating environmental knowledge, awareness and technical know-how in other countries. This initiative is also meant to transfer knowledge about global environmental standards and their use. The focus is not on the sale of products. Instead, the emphasis is on creating the necessary framework conditions and structures for environmental technologies in countries in need of support. In the pilot phase, it became clear that areas related to public services, such as water supply and wastewater and waste management, require international action.

At the conference, the BMUB will examine completed projects together with project leaders and interested parties. At the same time, the aim is to gather implementation experiences, ideas and input that can be taken up in future programmes. The new call for proposals for 2017 will be published soon on the BMUB website.
