IFAT Fair in China exhibits solutions for waste and wastewater management
The Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Environment Ministry, Katherina Reiche, opened the international trade fair for best practice environmental technology, IFAT China, in Shanghai. Companies active in sectors such as water supply, wastewater, waste management, recycling, clean air, environment technology and renewable energies presented their products and services. "China's demand for environmental technology is enormous. The German waste and water industry, with its internationally top-ranking products and services can be a major partner here. By strengthening our joint commitment with companies, we intend to use the opportunities of this billion dollar market companies and promote sustainable environmental and resource management", said Reiche.
There has been successful cooperation between the Federal Environment Ministry and IFAT China since 2004. The fair has become a cornerstone of Sino-German cooperation. IFAT China is a crucial platform for intensifying the dialogue on waste and water management solutions between German and Chinese companies. Reiche said: "It is our joint aim to exchange experience and launch joint projects so as to promote the modernisation of both our economies towards resource-efficient and environmentally sound green economies".
The Federal Environment Ministry will be represented at the fair with two dialogue fora and expert workshops on the topics circular economy and water management. A separate information stand in the German Pavilion in Hall E5, booth 5542, provides information on current activities, in particular those related to China. In addition, the innovative initiative German Water Partnership presents an overview of German know-how and experience in the field of water management. The RETech Initiative supplements this with information on the circular economy and shows how expertise and technology from Germany can be deployed in China.
