Exhibition opened at the Federal Environment Ministry
Ursula Heinen-Esser, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Environment Ministry, opened the bionics exhibition "Darwin meets business. New economic management - Learning from nature" in the building of the Federal Environment Ministry in Bonn earlier today. Bionics and bionic applications are linked with nature conservation and environmental protection in many ways. "The loss of ecosystems and of species diversity also destroys the foundations of bionics, as models from nature are lost for ever. Those who want to promote bionics must therefore also advocate the conservation of biodiversity through protection and sustainable use", commented Parliamentary State Secretary Heinen-Esser.
The exhibition illustrates the lesser known economic and organisational aspects of bionics, thus raising awareness of these aspects among the visitors. It is open to the public at the Federal Environment Ministry in 52175 Bonn, Robert-Schuman-Platz 3, from 28 June to 1 October 2010, Mondays to Fridays from 9:30 am to 7:30 pm.
The exhibition "Darwin meets business" was designed by the Dr. Otto Training & Consulting company of Schöneiche near Berlin and was first displayed last year at the Botanical Museum in Berlin-Dahlem. It complements the special exhibition "Inspiration Nature – Patent Factory Bionics" of the Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt (German Federal Foundation for the Environment - DBU) which focuses on bionic engineering and will be on display at the Museum Koenig in Bonn until 27 June 2010.
