Brochure provides information about obligations and options for incentives

Those who use renewable energies avoid greenhouse gas emissions and thus protect our climate. The same goes for heat. A brochure issued by the Federal Environment Ministry provides information about the Renewable Energies Heat Act (EEWärmeG) which was published today in the Federal Law Gazette and which will enter into force at the end of this year.

In 2020 renewable energies are to account for 14 percent of German heat consumption – more than twice as much as today. To reach this goal, new buildings will have to rely on regenerative heat sources as of 1 January, 2009. However, the Heat Act not only consists of obligations, it also provides options for incentives. The existing market incentive programme for the promotion of renewable energies was topped up again: until 2012, up to 500 million Euro per year is now available for the programme.

The new brochure "Heat from Renewable Energies: What will the new Heat Act achieve?" explains who will be obliged to do what by the new legislation, from which date onwards there will be an obligation to use renewable energies and which aspects need to be taken into account from a technical point of view. It also contains information about options for incentives.

The brochure can be ordered free of charge from the Environment Ministry under order number 6131: BMU, Postfach 30 03 61, 53183 Bonn, phone: + 0228 99/305-33 55, fax: +49 0228 99/305-33 56.
