Hannelore Elsner and Hannes Jaenicke give their voice to nature

Nature is speaking: The environmental organisation Conservation International published a series of spots proclaiming this simple message: Nature doesn't need people. People need nature. The Federal Environment Ministry (BMUB) produced German versions of two of the spots in time for the climate summit in Paris The BMUB was able to convince Hannelore Elsner and Hannes Jaenicke, two well-known German movie actors, to join the project. They gave their voices to Mother Nature (Elsner) and The Ocean (Jaenicke) in the videos.

The two-minute spots are part of a series of nine, which were produced by Conservation International with the support of Hollywood celebrities like Harrison Ford (The Ocean) and Julia Roberts (Mother Nature). They show the breathtaking beauty, but also the unrelenting forces of nature that human beings are subject to. The videos have already been produced and are available at www.natureisspeaking.org .

In cooperation with Conservation International, the Federal Environment Ministry dubbed two of the English videos in German and secured the support of outstanding actors: Hannelore Elsner, who is also an environmental ambassador for the Blue Angel eco-label, lends her voice to Mother Nature. Hannes Jaenicke, also author and director of nature films, speaks the part of The Ocean. With their expressive voices, these two artists open the audience's eyes to our planet's wealth of resources and beauty and to why they are worth saving.

The Federal Environment Ministry is now showing both spots as part of its campaign "All together, it's climate action" (#ziek) in selected cinemas in German cities and online on the campaign's website www.ziek.de  and at www.youtube.com . In the run-up to the climate summit in Paris, the two spots illustrate the importance of climate action for nature as the source of human livelihood and bring home the urgency for action by each and every one of us.
