This Friday, 25 January 2013, Katherina Reiche, Parliamentary State Secretary of the German Federal Environment Ministry and Chinese Vice-Environment Minister Zhou Jian will open the fourth Sino-German Environmental Forum in Berlin.
The forum, hosted jointly by the Federal Environment Ministry and the Asia-Pacific Committee of German Business, focuses on sustainable management (Green Economy).
Prior to the event Parliamentary State Secretary Reiche explained:
"Our goal is economic practices that reduce emissions for economic and ecological reasons, use closed life cycles and consequently fosters efficiency and renewable energies. If China and Germany invest their cooperation in this area it will lead to a positive outcome for both countries."
Chinese and German experts from the fields of politics, business and science will discuss the following topics: eco-labelling, green procurement, remediation of contaminated sites, closed cycle management, resource efficiency and waste water management.
The Vice-Environment Minister's business delegation will also visit the environmental trade fair TerraTec in Leipzig next week.
