State Secretaries Stephan Steinlein from the Federal Foreign Office, Jörg Asmussen from the Federal Labour Ministry (BMAS), Werner Gatzer from the Federal Finance Ministry (BMF), Gunther Adler from the Federal Environment and Building Ministry (BMUB), Rainer Bomba from the Federal Transport Ministry (BMVi) and Friedrich Kitschelt from the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) together with Directors-General Marie Luise Graf-Schlicker from the Federal Ministry of Justice (BMJV) and Eckhard Franz from the Federal Economic Affairs Ministry (BMWi) are attending consultations together in Kyiv from 1 to 2 October on the possibilities for further support of Ukraine from Germany.
Talks with high-level political decision makers will focus on the implementation status of the reforms and on deepening cooperation in the fields of industry, urban development, energy and justice. In addition, the implementation of concrete projects under the Federal Government action plan for Ukraine will be stepped up, for example modernising electricity networks and supporting the municipal administrative reform.
The German delegation will also be meeting with representatives of German industry and development cooperation. Furthermore, State Secretary Kitschelt (BMZ) will be donating 12 ambulances to the Ukrainian authorities.
The first trip made by several German State Secretaries to Ukraine in April 2014 already laid the foundations for a close cooperation between the two countries, which has been further continued and further strengthened by this second trip. The Federal Government is supporting Ukraine through its action plan with an estimated 700 million euros this year, 26 million of which is going towards humanitarian aid.
