Minister Hendricks on her way to the World Climate Summit

Federal Environment Minister Barbara Hendricks and other high-ranking members of the German delegation are taking a chartered train to Paris today. The "Train to Paris" from Berlin is expected to arrive at Paris Gare de l'Est in the evening, together with trains from other European capitals. Starting this Monday, Paris will host this year's UN Climate Change Conference.

"The next few days will be decisive for climate policy. I hope they will make history. We are going to Paris today to bring international climate action a big step forward", said Barbara Hendricks before boarding the train at platform 8 of Berlin Central Station.

Approximately 300 passengers from politics, industry, civil society and the media are travelling to Paris on board the chartered Deutsche Bahn train. Various activities are planned for the eight-hour journey. The German foundation "Stiftung 2 Grad", the transport alliance "Allianz pro Schiene" and the non-profit organisation CDP are among the organisers.

Environment Minister Hendricks will open the German pavilion on the COP 21 premises on Monday morning (10 am). Throughout the conference the pavilion will be used for many events bringing together renowned guests from politics, industry, the scientific community and associations.
