At the invitation of the Iranian government State Secretary at the Federal Building Ministry, Gunther Adler, has travelled to Iran together with a business delegation to foster cooperation in the areas of urban development, building and water management. In addition to political talks, experts and business representatives will attend a conference on future cooperation in the areas of urban development, energy-efficient building and water.
Following the visit to a joint German-Iranian project in Hashtgerd near Tehran, State Secretary Adler said that he was very impressed by what he saw: "Science and business have created a new quarter in a very impressive way. The innovative approaches concerning urban development and design, architecture, mobility, energy and water infrastructure are exemplary. I am looking forward to our political talks and the conference opening on 8 November here in Tehran." He continued: "This may well be the starting point for a more intensive cooperation between our two countries, as both sides are more than willing to cooperate".
The Iranian State Secretary Mohsen Nariman presented the "New Town Project" to his German counterpart Adler and his delegation today. Nariman is also head of the New Town Development Company (NTDC) which is currently planning 17 new towns in Iran. The project was carried out between 2006 and 2014 by NTDC and the Technical University of Berlin together with the Iranian Building Housing Research Center (BHRC) with the help of funds provided by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
