German waste management sector set up the portal "German RETech Partnership"

From today, the Federal Environment Ministry's Export Initiative Recycling and Efficiency Technologies (RETech) is self-reliant (20 December 2011). Representatives of waste management companies and German higher education institutions have established the association "German RETech Partnership" (Verein German RETech Partnership) in Bonn, thus turning the Federal Environment Ministry's existing RETech Initiative into a private entity.

The association will focus on continuing existing activities to improve export opportunities for companies in the waste management sector and on promoting know-how transfer and technology export. The goal is to strengthen modern waste management structures in developing and newly industrialising countries in particular. Technology, logistics and services from Germany are in great demand on global markets. This new association aims to collect relevant information for companies about specific countries and target markets, establish valuable links with authorities and local companies and offer assistance to association members.

Membership in the German RETech Partnership is open to all interested companies in the field of closed cycle management. The association sees its role as that of central contact for companies in this sector that are expanding abroad. It will also be an important partner for the German ministries active in this area. The Federal Environment Ministry (BMU) and the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) will continue to support the work of the German RETech Partnership as members of the board.
