Final report of the Commission on the Future of Agriculture

On 29 June 2021, the Commission on the Future of Agriculture unanimously adopted its final report. The federal government’s Commission is chaired by Professor Peter Strohschneider and comprises 31 members from the fields of agriculture, environmental protection, animal welfare, business, consumer organisations and academia. It reflects the range of societal groups relevant to agricultural policy while also involving the academic community.

The Commission on the Future of Agriculture was established by the federal government on 8 July 2020 in response to the farmers’ protests. Its mandate is to develop recommendations and proposals to facilitate a sustainable, for example ecologically and economically viable and socially compatible agricultural sector in Germany, also in future.
