Representatives of environmental authorities from the German Federal Government and Bavaria met with representatives of the Permanent Secretariat of the Alpine Convention from Innsbruck and Bolzano on 13 and 14 January 2015 at the nature information centre of the Karwendelbahn summit station in Mittenwald. The objective of the meeting was to make preparations for implementing the Programme of the German Presidency of the Alpine Convention. The discussion focussed on concrete activities and anticipated results, with which Germany aims to contribute to sustainable development in the Alpine region over the next two years.

The Programme's priorities are, for example, building a green economy in the Alpine region, sustainable tourism, ecological connectivity to conserve biological diversity, adaptation to climate change, sustainable mobility and energy-efficient building. Preparations are also being made for close cooperation with civil society and Alpine networks such as the network of municipalities Alliance in the Alps. Following the team retreat, Team Germany is now well equipped for implementing its programme in close cooperation with the Alpine Secretariat.
